Meet Kanami
I first met Kanami while in the prone position with her hands (and cleaning instruments) in my mouth!
Kanami is a dental hygienist and has been so for our entire family the last 4 years. An eventually to many families in our church community!
Kanami has been a part of our church family since 2019, surrendered her life to Christ and was baptized in the summer of 2021. She has been such a blessing to our family and community.
Last year, she had shared with us her thoughts about going to the U.S. and some of the sacrifices she would have to make in order to do so, such as quitting her job since she will be gone for an extended time and moving back with her mother and father to save money (we had just helped her move out the year prior). This also meant her daily commute to work would change from 5 minutes to 45 minutes one way. And lastly the arduous task of all the paperwork and waiting for visa approval. She did it!
Kanami left for the U.S. on August 6th to pursue a deeper dive into the English language on a 4 month study at NKU. While there, she will get to do life with many dear people that are a part of our mission and attend our church back home, Crossroads. We are excited to see what God does in her life over these next four months.
It’s through relationships that God has orchestrated over the years that gave Kanami the courage to make such a bold move and embrace the adventure God has her on. Some of those relationships are with the Carnes Family, her host family during our trip in 2022. And with the Garuccio Family that have graciously opened their house and loaned her a vehicle while she is in the U.S. Both the Carnes (in January) and the Garrucios (in June) visited us in Kagoshima, Japan this year! We are so grateful for so many that have been obedient to God’s call impacting the lives of others including the lives that our family has been called to reach halfway around the world!
We ask you to keep Kanami in your prayers on this adventure!
